As a Marriage and Family Therapist trained in a medical school, Emily McCord brings a family systems perspective to her work as an Elder Care Coordinator. Emily’s duties include client counseling, advocacy, education and individualized coordination of services designed to improve client quality of life.
Before joining Elder Law Practice, Emily worked as a family counselor where she conducted therapy sessions and coordinated behavioral interventions. She spent three years as a Transitions Counselor at the Center for Palliative Care and Transitions at the Medical Center of Central Georgia where she provided counseling and emotional support to patients and their families and end-of-life care. Emily also worked as a Mental Health Therapist at Coliseum Psychiatric Center and as the Director of Christian Education at Byron United Methodist Church in Byron, GA. Emily earned a Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA and a Bachelor’s degree in Family & Consumer Sciences from the University of Georgia.
Since childhood, Emily has been drawn to the elderly community and resolved to build a career helping older adults face the complexities of medical care, insurance and long-term care.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys yoga, running, traveling and spending time with her family. She lives with her husband and daughter in East Nashville.
