Elizabeth Greer, Associate Attorney
Elizabeth McCoyd Greer joined Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law in 2017. As Associate Attorney, Elizabeth provides legal expertise on estate planning and elder law matters.
Before receiving her license to practice law in Tennessee, Elizabeth worked as a paralegal for law firms in the Nashville area, owned and operated a high-end retail store, and worked as a Certified Pilates instructor. She is a former ballet dancer whose first career of performing and teaching includes 11 years as a professional dancer with the Nashville Ballet and other ballet companies in the U.S.
Elizabeth has first-hand experience dealing with the challenges of caring for elderly loved ones. As her parents’ health declined, she helped them move from an independent living facility in Atlanta to a Nashville nursing home when they needed the next level of care. “I thought it would take a day or so to find a place where they could live together but it was far more difficult,” she remembers. “I was a full-time advocate for two adults in their 80s with two different sets of problems, an experience that gives me tremendous empathy and compassion for Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law clients.”
What does Elizabeth find most satisfying about her work as an attorney? “I love the strategy and the interaction,” she says. “It’s great to talk with clients, help them sort out their concerns, and create a plan that will address all their issues,” she says. “Just about everything I’ve done in my work life has involved listening to people describe the vision they have for themselves and then helping them bring that vision to life. It’s no different in my work as an elder law attorney.”
Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ballet from Texas Christian University, a Juris Doctor degree from Nashville School of Law, and a Master of Laws in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law. She was admitted to the Tennessee State Bar in 2014.
When Elizabeth isn’t serving Takacs McGinnis clients, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their large extended family, and their American Eskimo dogs. Elizabeth and her husband, Lynn, are enthusiastic supporters of Nashville Ballet.
