Estate Disputes of the Rich and Famous
When we die without a plan for our estate, things can get complicated.
Pop star Prince died in April without a will. Frank Sinatra, Jr., son of the singing legend, died in March while in the middle of divorce litigation. Miami Marlins pitching ace Jose Fernandez died in September in a boating accident leaving a pregnant girlfriend. Bestselling author Tom Clancy died leaving a massive estate that wasn't clear about who was responsible for estate taxes.
There's a long road of turmoil ahead for the parties in these disputes. If you fail to plan ahead for your estate, plan on plenty of grief for those forced to sort things out after you're gone.
