Do Medicare Managed Care plans cover the Initial Preventive Physical Exam and the Annual Wellness Visit?

Yes, the Initial Preventive Physical Exam and the Annual Wellness Visit must be covered by all Medicare Managed Care plans following Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service coverage requirements and guidelines for these services. Medicare Advantage Organizations are required by law to cover all items and services covered under Medicare Parts A & B that are available to Medicare beneficiaries in the plan’s service area.

As with most other physician services, beneficiaries are subject to cost sharing for advance care planning provided by their physician or health professional.
