Barbara McGinnis to Chair Community Life Bridge Board

Barbara Boone McGinnis has been named chair of the Community Life Bridge Board of Directors.

McGinnis is partner at Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law, PLLC, an elder law firm in Hendersonville. She has been a member of the Community Life Bridge Board of Directors for the past two years.

“Barbara is uniquely qualified because of her experience in elder care law and senior care, and her background in nursing,” said Brenda Payne, Immediate Past Chair of the Community Life Bridge Board of Directors and one of the organization's founding board members. “She has a tremendous knowledge of the needs of our community’s seniors and the resources available to meet them.”

“Community Life Bridge is moving into a phase of operation where administrative leadership is very important,” said Loren Echols, Community Life Bridge Executive Director. “Barbara brings that to our board as its leader.”

“I’m excited to be working with a board where everyone is so passionate about filling the gaps that prevent Sumner County’s seniors from successfully aging in place,” McGinnis said, noting that Community Life Bridge is launching Senior Ride Sumner, a service that pairs seniors who need rides with volunteers who can provide them. Senior Ride Sumner is expected to go live in spring 2019. “Once Senior Ride Sumner is implemented, we will move to another project, always with the focus of helping seniors remain in their homes for a dignified and successful aging-in-place experience.”

McGinnis is a Certified Elder Law Attorney, VA-accredited attorney, Registered Nurse, Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Wound Care Specialist. Before receiving her license to practice law in Tennessee, Barbara spent more than 20 years working in clinical, regulatory compliance, management, and business development roles in a variety of long-term care settings. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Austin Peay State University, a master’s degree as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Nashville School of Law.
