Joshua Hunter Earns Certificate in Elder Care Coordination

Updated: Oct 6, 2022

Joshua Hunter, Medicare Specialist at Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law, PLLC, has earned a Certificate in Elder Care Coordination after completing a program offered by The Life Care Planning Law Firms Association in collaboration with The Stockton Center on Successful Aging at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.

Elder care coordinators in Life Care Planning Law Firms work to enhance quality of life for elders and family caregivers during an elder’s long-term care journey. Life Care Planning is a philosophical approach to elder law that helps families respond to the legal, financial and personal challenges caused by aging, chronic illness, and disability. The Certificate in Elder Care Coordination program enhances the ability of its graduates to help clients and families identify and solve care-related problems. It also boosts recognition of the elder care coordinator role within the community.

“I have a passion for helping seniors,” said Joshua, who currently counsels Takacs McGinnis clients on Medicare and VA benefits issues. “The certificate program taught me a lot about the unique role the elder care coordinator plays in walking alongside older adults and their families during some of the most difficult life experiences they may ever encounter. We help them bridge the gap between walking through suffering to walking to success.”

Hunter joined Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law in 2018 after working in a number of roles in the Upper Cumberland Development District’s Area Agency on Aging and Disability, including Wellness Site Champion, Senior Medicare Patrol support staff, and SHIP Benefits Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator, where he managed and trained the team of volunteers providing Medicare assistance to seniors and disabled adults.
