Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law is joining elder law firms nationwide who are drawing attention to free elder law resources available to the community during National Elder Law Month in May.
Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law has been providing free presentations to civic and community groups, senior care facilities, and caregiver organizations for more than two decades. The firm’s elder law attorneys, elder care coordinators, public benefits specialists, and other professionals are well known in Middle Tennessee for their educational and entertaining presentations on topics related to the challenges of aging, long-term illness, and disability. The firm also offers in-service presentations and programs to professionals to help fulfill continuing education requirements. “We will speak anywhere we’re invited,” said outreach coordinator Dana Hentschel, who is also a Certified Independent Trainer for the Positive Approach® to Care (PAC), a dementia education program. “In a typical year, we will give more than 100 presentations to groups large and small. We consider it an honor.”
The firm also offers a variety of free information on the firm’s website at TN-ElderLaw.com, including the Takacs McGinnis blog, educational articles, helpful links, and more.
The Takacs McGinnis YouTube channel offers more than 300 videos on dozens of topics, including Estate Planning, Wills/Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Medicaid Planning, Veterans Benefits, Asset Protection, Caregiving, and more. The channel also features nearly two dozen personal stories from Takacs McGinnis staff members and clients.
In the Aging Starts Now podcast, members of the Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law team talk about the tools, techniques, strategies, and services that help families respond with confidence to the challenges created by aging, long-term illness, and disability. The podcast features more than 100 episodes and can be found on popular podcast platforms such as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Spotify. “No topic is off limits,” noted Barbara McGinnis, a Certified Elder Law Attorney and one of the firm’s partners. “In recent episodes, we have talked about the pitfalls of giving away your home, choosing the right caregiver, telehealth for seniors, working with an end-of-life doula, and Medicaid-friendly annuities.”
The firm’s activities are part of a nationwide observance of National Elder Law Month, which is sponsored by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Founded in 1987, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) educates, inspires, serves, and provides community to attorneys with practices in elder and special needs law. NAELA’s 4,000 members are experienced and trained in working with the legal problems of aging Americans and individuals of all ages with disabilities.
