Tim Takacs Named to 2022 Best Lawyers List

For the sixteenth year in a row, Timothy L. Takacs has been selected by his peers to be included in The Best Lawyers of America ® 2022 in the field of elder law.


Since it was first published in 1983, Best Lawyers® has become universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence. Best Lawyers lists are compiled based on an exhaustive peer-review evaluation. For the 2022 edition of The Best Lawyers in America©, 9.4 million votes were analyzed, which resulted in almost 67,000 leading lawyers in 145 practice areas being included in the new edition. Lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed; inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor.


Nationally known in legal circles, Timothy L. Takacs is the architect of Life Care Planning, a philosophical approach to elder law that features a team of attorneys, nurses, social workers, insurance experts, public benefits specialists, and others who work together to help families deal with the personal, financial, and legal challenges created by long life, chronic illness, and disability. Takacs’ innovations have transformed the way elder law is practiced in the United States. His insights into the challenges faced by the elderly and their families have appeared in the Wall Street JournalChristian Science MonitorThe Tennessean, and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. 


Takacs is well known to Nashville-area television viewers thanks to his frequent appearances on Newschannel 5+ as a guest on MorningLine and OpenLine, and his duties as co-host of Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law Hour, which aired on Newschannel 5+ from 2017 through 2019. Takacs is currently a co-host of a weekly podcast, Aging Starts Now, available on popular podcast platforms. Takacs was also featured in Economics of Aging, a documentary produced by Nashville Public Television as part of their Aging Matters series. Takacs is the author of Elder Law Practice in Tennessee and a contributing author of Aging and Money: Reducing Risk of Financial Exploitation and Protecting Financial Resources, published by Humana Press.


A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Vanderbilt University School of Law, Takacs has been in private practice in the Nashville area since 1980.
